Update on Mecklenburg Co., NC Records

The old will collection filed with the North Carolina Secretary of State dating from 1783 (includes some 1760s wills) to 1843 has been added to North Carolina Pioneers  This is a major undertaking and provides much help to genealogists in linking their ancestors. Mecklenburg was part of Union County and provides a very large impact of information. These are the original last wills and testaments recorded by the clerk and contains a pronounced accuracy of documents. After researching census records, it is extremely important to go next to the local county court house where your ancestor resided.  The guts of the family history is found in the last will and testament where the testator, knowing that death was eminent, expressed his last wishes to his heirs.
