Old Homesites

It is important to locate old homesites for good reason. That is where family members were buried! What you have to do is to look around the landscape, in the woods, old barns, planting fields, etc.  Nowadays it is a common experience to find one tombstone, or perhaps several.  This discovery is an alert that there are more graves nearby. Perhaps sunken, the tombstones broken. Dig around a little in the ground near the first tombstone to see if there is broken slate (pieces of old tombstones).
