A memorial to the Adairs and other families who settled in Laurens County, South Carolina during the Revolutionary War period.  Most of these people, Scotch-Irishs,  originated in County Antrim in Ireland and migrated into Pennsylvania before settling in South Carolina.  When visiting old cemeteries should you find a memorial placed there, it is an excellent source of history and the times.  Such communities are the story of the American dream. The names listed on this plaque served into the American Revolution.  This is the situation in South Carolina.  There are many Irish, Scotch-Irish and German settlements.
